My experience with the Marbel board: I love to ride it, and I easily do 22+ mph on flat ground, so it is even faster than the review says. And it is, indeed, a beautiful board – and it feels so light. However, quality is, indeed, an on-going issue. I have had to send my board in for repair multiple times, but my experience with customer support has been excellent.

    1. I invested $1200 into their startup. Got my board and it failed. I returned it; certified return receipt at my cost. I requested a refund on January 2015. I have over a dozen emails promising Marbel is backed up on refunds and to be patient. That refund request was January 2015! No refund. No board to date.

  2. We were promised a June delivery but have still not received our board, though they took our money right away. Customer service response is vague or absent. We worry we won’t get the board at all. Have canceled order and asked for a refund–but no response from customer service. Anyone else have this issue??

    1. Yes!!! I placed my order June of 2015!!! I have paid in full and have no board and no replies to emails or phone calls!!! I am feeling that this seems to be a huge scam!

      1. Ditto. They couldn’t deliver, we cancelled the order, they said they would refund us our money within the 6 weeks, nothing received after 4 months and now they won’t respond to emails of phone calls. BIG SCAM. See below for what BBB states on Marbel.

        Electricboarder.com can you assist?

The BBB are stating, “! THERE IS AN ALERT FOR THIS BUSINESS !” and that “BBB has received a pattern of complaints concerning quality of products sold by this Business. Consumers allege that product does not work after a very short time. In some cases products are not delivered in a reasonable time. Consumers also indicate difficulty in obtaining refunds and reaching the Business Customer Service Department. On Dec 8,2015 BBB contacted the business to address the pattern of complaints. As of today, the business has not responded to our request.

    2. I’ve had this same issue. Ship date pushed out over 6 months and I finally canceled my order. I’ve asked for updates multiple times. I finally did get a response that they have received my cancellation request but have no information as to when it would be processed. The only thing they could tell me is I would get an email once it has…. It has been over a month. This company sucks! Buy a Boosted. I bought one at the same time I placed the marbel order. Their second generation longer range battery wasn’t going to be ready when the promised so they shipped the shorter range one for free just so I could get riding! Buy boosted. Don’t waste your time with Marbel.

      1. Same issue with the refund on a cancellation. I’m disheartened to hear that my month+ wait time is minute to how long others’ have been. I can’t afford to find out it is a scam and I won’t be receiving my money back.

    3. Yes, the same here. I have sent money in May 2014, which means it’s been full THREE YEARS now. I have received numerous written promises from Marbel regarding shipping date, but no board was ever delivered.

When I have asked for a refund, they’ve stopped responding completely.

I have NEVER EVER had such a bad experience with a supplier and I would never believe such awful business practice can be tolerated in developed country like the USA.

Don’t buy this board ! Bought it and besides the fact the lied to me over and over about shipping my board they have the worst customer service of anyone I have ever dealt with. The board lasted about a week before I started to have major issues.. Belt ripping, motor noise, grip tape peeling, blue tooth signal issues from the remote. The biggest issue was it quit charging . Sent it back to them and they had it for over a month and ignored my calls and emails about fixing my board. I finally had to call my cc company and reverse charges that they tried to fight and lost.. These guys do not know how to run a business I would look for another board besides a Marbel

I have had continuous problems with my Marbel board and am completely disappointed and frustrated. I have repeatedly sent it back to the company for repairs, and always get it returned with more problems. I have only been able to ride the board three times before it breaks down (these few rides were fun). There have been issues with the belt drive, sudden unexpected motor shut off (a safety issue), hand remote connections, faulty “Hall sensor” in the motor, detached internal plugs, and deck pad delamination. The Marbel is pretty to look at, but it’s quality sucks. It comes with a 1 year warranty, but you have to pay to ship the board to the company for repairs. Shipping this heavy board and it’s charger is not cheap. Try shipping your board three times for repairs and your investment just got a lot more expensive. And good luck getting someone from the company to answer your phone call…

    1. Thanks for your comment! It helps possible buyers a lot. Do you think Marbel will get their sh*t together?

Marbel is my second board, Kickstarted Boosted came first, which made waiting more bearable.
I love to ride it, I enjoy both of them.
Yes, boosted is more comfortable, accelerates better, braking is superior and it is very very durable, And it even goes reverse 🙂
Marbel is much better suited for travel with it’s lighter weight (it is very light) and much larger battery capacity (LED indication of charge state is bad, nevertheless it just keeps going on one LED)
I have good customer service experience, I was kind and armed with lots of patience, and they did great once they were able to. On my board sprocket got loose and it needed replacement, Marbel returned the board very quickly, just in time for my trip to Europe.
Few weeks ago I spent 3 hours riding all over Palma de Mallorca and easily returned home once battery was drained flat, as friction of motor is low enough…

I’ve owned the Marbel board for nearly a year and my experience with the board has been mixed at best. I use the board to commute to and from work and average 8 miles a day when in use. I have used it in 100 degree weather all the way to below freezing temperatures and the board worked equally as well in both I chose to pre order the Marbel board mostly on the specs. Light weight, duration of the battery and top speed.
Pros and cons i will start with pro. It’s a handsome board, light and fast at top speeds with good acceleration and handling The remote hasn’t dropped connection for me but once or twice and I live in NYC. Distance on a single charge is as advertised 16 miles. Braking is adequate.
The cons. The electronics are built into the nose of the board, that contains the USB port and battery connector. These are protected by a foamy rubber bumper. In my opinion a major design flaw and my single biggest gripe. Like any skateboard it’s going to get away from you from time to time and it’s not designed to take even the slightest of bumps to the nose. Mine needed to be sent back to Marbel from an impact at less than 5miles an hr. Don’t believe the claims that it is water resistant either. I rode it in light rain a few times with the boards nose taped with electrical tape (the only way I know how to keep the tab on the port closed while riding otherwise it will constantly open on rides from the vibrations) and had major issues from water damage and needed to send it back for repairs. Customer service is a mixed bag. Misti, who seems to be the only customer service rep Marbel has is friendly and mostly timely in replying to emails however she can be very vague and misleading when it suits her. Don’t even try to call Marbel as this is a futile endeavor. Minor issues are the grip tape coming off the nose and tail something you should expect as they are made of rubber and the tape will only stay glued for a week or two before it peels away.
To sum it all up I will say that my year with the board when riding it has been so much fun. I can’t think of a more enjoyable way to get to work than on an electric skateboard However for me the board falls short. I need and expect a skateboard to be built with durability in mind. It really bothers me that it can’t hold up to the slightest of abuse and needs to be babied. There are other companies with proven track records and better customer service. I am planning on selling my Marbel for a steep discount and will be buy a different brand. Ride safe!

Grip tape coming off where it is glued to rubber bumpers is easy to fix.
What worked for me was to use double sided tape. Not a plain one, good results I have with one where thin white foamy core separates sticky layers. I think it is 3M brand. Interestingly now for me front side still stays on,after several months and before repair it was first place to peel off.
It helps to clean dust form both sides before applying tape.

I want to add that electric longboard needs a lot of care, not just bearings but also motor(s) and one should avoid excessive shocks. When I compare boosted vs marbel, I can tell you that both needs similar level of maintenance and fine careful adjustments, alignment makes all the difference. Carefully assembled board is amazing, and slight misalignment leads to failure.

    DO NOT BUY!
I ordered online, paid $1400, they said 2-3 months shipping, so I canceled the order, and it’s been 6 weeks without returning my money. They said it is “accounting issues” but its a small company so that is BS.

Got the board almost a month now so I can say pretty well my opinion about the board.

Quick background, I’m a official International kickstarter backer who waited 2 and a half years until I had the opportunity to pick up my board. You also find my name in the manual.

As some mentioned the grip tape is coming off but it can be fixed with some glue. My battery Indicator isn’t working properly, it only shows 4 light bars but it can be fixed with the app. other than that the board works flawlessly.

Kevin a worker in Marbel told me eye to eye that this board is stress tested and will work flawlessly and he didn’t lie about that because I stress tested it myself.

Going more than 200 km within a month only for commuting. I can tell my board can survive anything that I do with it. It can survive rainy days but I don’t recommend it. Some said that the board isn’t durable enough and a small bump will break it. I can tell you that my board fell off really really hard on the flat side when the train made a full break and thankfully it survived that impact. I don’t recommend it to ride this thing on a cobble stone street where you get excessive shocks for more than 5 seconds because you feel that your internal component is going to get loose but it’s survivable. I can also confirm that the board can climb a 14.7% hill since that is my daily commute way.

I can’t complain anything about the support of Marbel if you have your board of course else the support is terrible. Misti is a very helpful and honest person if it comes about maintaining your board. Honest? well when I picked up my board, I accidentally forgot my camera in their Facility. So I wrote Misti if she can send it back to me and they did! that’s what I call honesty.

Maybe I’m lucky person that mine is still working after all those abuse but I can only recommend it if you really want to have the lightest e-longboard on the market.

  9. Hello
I preordered the board almost 19 months ago and still didnt received it. They change the delivery date every time we are close to the previous delivery date.
Is anybody thinks that a class action should be made?? Im really woried and frustrated . Any advice to help?
    Thank you

    1. Thanks for your comment Martin, the comments above may help you out a bit. I also suggest contacting their customer service our reaching to others on a forum or on Reddit!

      1. I am planning on contacting the Tampa Police Department (that is where their “office” is supposedly located) and see what they propose I do. I cancelled my order for my board that I waited over a year for and now am stuck waiting for a refund…. that I honestly don’t believe they have ANY intention of willingly giving me. There seem to be so many people that have never received their boards after paying and patiently waiting that I believe something needs to happen to shut them down from continuing to scam people!!!

        1. I had a similar experience. We cancelled our order after 6 months of waiting, being told that our refund may take up to 6 weeks. We are now 4 months and no refund after constant follow-up on our end, Now customer service doesn’t return emails and they don’t return vmails. SCAM. BBB has now red flagged them. If you get Tampa Police involved, please let me know how it goes and class action sounds lovely.

  10. I made a bulk order of 3 marbel boards in January 2016! I cancelled my order after 5 months in June due to missing shipment confirmation and without communication from marbel of a realistic or possible ship dateI. Since my cancellation I wait of a repayment! I tried several times to contact marbel by phone without success!
I live in Switzerland and so isn’t so easy to travel to the USA and catch this nasty and unfair salesman!
Should someone know a way to get the money back, I would be very grateful for a type!

    1. Hi there Hardy. As you can see a lot of people are having similar problems.. I will ask around for you and hear what others did!

      1. I have been out my money since a year ago now, after having cancelled my order for lack of delivery. One other person said they were going to contact the Tampa police to see if they can do anything, but I didn’t hear back. I’m in Canada, so I can’t go down there and knock on their door, but they stopped responding to me months ago and they never answer the phone. They have finally been blackballed by the BBB, but that’s too late for us now. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get our money back, I’m all ears. Class action law suite?

        1. I am the one that talked about contacting Tampa PD. I did contact them and they told me that I needed to file a police report with my local PD that my local PD would contact Tampa PD. I have filed a police report against them and am waiting to hear something back. They told me that due to the holidays it would probably be after New Years. They did suggest going to ic3.gov and filing a report there. I’m not sure how one would go about a class action suit?

    2. Hi Hardy, I’ve read you are located in Swizerland, I am in Italy and I am in your same situation with Marbel. Did you solved the problem so far ? Or have you been suggested how to do ? Thank you.

      1. Hi valeria, I am still fightingwith marbel to get the money back or 3 boards marbel 2.0!
I few weeks ago a received a message from marbel that all the problems are solved and they are willing (or able) to ship boards overseas! I gave marbel the chance, to ship boards or the owed money to me! Actually, I am once again in the “stand by modus” without any further feedback or ideas from marbel ;-(
I hope, that I can close one day this horrible history with these guys from florida and invest the money in a better and trustful project!

        1. Thanks Hardy. Maybe if you have paid with Paypall, you are still in time to ask them a refund (you have 180 days from payment), which is not my case since I paid on february last year. I advice you to do it : I don’t think Marbel will ever ship the boards to you, honestly…

The refund through Paypal is the advice I got today from Reddit forum, but I can’t apply it. I will try with my credit card company….

  11. My experience with MArbel : I ordered the board 1 year ago, I’ve paid the full amount, as requested. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED THE BOARD !!!!!!!!! I asked for money refund and I NEVER RECEIVED IT. Have I to say more ?

    1. Hi Valeria,
We truly hope that your problem gets solved. We changed this article so no one who reads it will buy the board through our website. You can see on the comments above that you are not the only one, Marbel truly is a disgrace to the esk8 community.

I suggest you head to Reddit.com, there is a huge electric skateboarding community and some people have gotten their money back. Start a thread asking for help: https://www.reddit.com/r/ElectricSkateboarding/.

      Lots of luck Valeria!

      1. Thank you. I’ve written in Reddit and they adviced me to ask Paypall refund, but I’m out of the 180 days timing. I have few hope to see my money back. Will update in case of a solution, to help people that are in my same situation.
If you get other cases and possible solutions to this problem, please let us know. Thanks !

  12. Moreover, I would like to add that Marbel has DISAPPEARED from Facebook and Twitter…….. I leave you any comments about…….

  13. I´ve been waiting for almost 2,5 years. Backed the kickstarter in Dec 2014. Tried a refund in 2016 but then decided to give Marble another chance. An official mail in the beginning of 2017 with big words stating Marble understands us backers so well and all international hurdles have been surpassed and promising delivery end Feb, an extended guarantee and a lifelong supply of belts raised my naive hopes again, but it did of course not occur..

Not a lot of love left for Marble after that I must say.

Now I´ve just been down to Evolve boards in Duesseldorf in Germany and gotten a Bamboo 2 in 1 board. Staff is superfriendly and everything around Evolve just feels solid. Super quality and heeps of carving fun!

  14. Do NOT buy this board. I bought one for my husbands bday and we didn’t get ours for almost a year. Upgraded the wheels at purchase to the 100mm wheels And still haven’t received them….and it’s been almost 2 years now!? Misti wrote to me a few times over the last two years but they no longer respond to our emails. In the meantime, I’m getting all sorts of marketing emails from them about their 2.0 board and 101mm wheels!?!? Seems like a scam to me. So disappointing. Seems like boosted boards are the way to go!!! Wish we would have done that from the beginning.

  15. I too am at 11 months with no board. I did call he landlord of where Marbel’s factory is. She said rhey are in business still the was month ago. Still hoping. In intend to go there face to face with these guys

  16. I ordered my board June 2015 and paid approx $1500. It is now April 27th 2017 and still no board or refund. TOTAL SCAM. The so called Misti replies to my emails telling me lies all the time. I guess I got scammed

  17. Never received my board. Why isn’t kickstarter going after them? No one responds to my emails either. Now they’re supposedly coming out with the Marbel board 360!? They haven’t even shipped the 2.0 yet! DO NOT BUY FROM THESE DORTBAGS!

I bought first version of board. First time that it failed it was refurbished fairly fast. It didn’t last long thought. It is with Marbel for repair already for six months. A couple months ago Misti wrote that it waits for upgrade to 2.0 and should be shipped in ten business days max.
Now no one replies any more and I’m interested in upgrade to dual motors.

With electric skateboards unless you are wiling to make them yourself you must arm yourself with large amount of patience.
I bought also Mellow board and it is delayed, waiting for it for ages.
Somewhat better luck I was with Boosted board until in full speed one of the motors reversed. I fell, not being able to run that fast, a little scratched knee, no big deal luckily.
But Boosted won’t send a motor or sensor that is difficult to buy and needs some setup too.
Sending the board from Europe is impractical and expensive so I will most probably have to make my own motors, vesc, bms, batteries and probably remote unless I manage to reuse some pasts.
Also firmware upgrade never worked for me keeps failing.
I calculated that for every kilometer I’ve made with it cost was about 1 US $
But it was fun and likely it will be functional again one way or another.
Also with Marbel while it worked I had lots of fun.
Hopefully That company will grow strong and make even better board as with their light way they are best in hole world when you need carry your board for more than few meters.
So while I did suffer losses I don’t see thing that dark there is good chance that I will get my Marbel board done right. And from my experience, having it I can tell that Marbel is doing great job improving where improvement is needed.

  18. Ordered electric board upgrade on May 23, 2017
    Paid $799.99 for upgrade;
Shipped old board back on May 24, 2017
Marbel received old board on May 30, 2017
Since May 25, 2017, their website says order was canceled and refund has been issued.
I have not received any money back.
They still have my old board.
    Since then I have:

I did receive my board (marbel 1.0) but it’s broken twice in a year. For fist time repair, it’s charge free but for second time repair, I had to cover shipping fee myself. However, I got the skateboard back. After that I ordered the 100 mm wheel online but never received it and got my money back~…TOTAL FRAUD.
Their customer service is terrible. Never buy any product from this company. Trust me.

Hate to add to the negative aspect of this company, but I am on my second board now, which just feel apart while I was riding it. The first board was a KS original and the battery failed. The company did at least send me a new board and then after riding it maybe a dozen or so times around town two screws that attach what I guess is the drive train of the board fell off and the board made an awful sound of metal on metal as the board stopped working. I’ve contacted Marbel and explained what happened. We’ll see what they say.
